Описание

Tibetan ritual musical instrument, used for the practice of Chod, but actually rising in its history to ancient, pre-Buddhist times.

Traditionally it was made from the human thigh bone and was often decorated with silver and turquoise. At the same time, a number of strict requirements were imposed on the finished instrument and on the bone used for its production. In particular, it was forbidden to make kangling from the horns and bones of animals, the yak or goat, for example. At present, the rules are not so strict, and the kangling is often made of wood.

It ios also forbidden to use this instrument without the need — only for ritual purposes.
